LIFE ISN'T ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORM TO PASS....IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN!
Josh was spending the day with his family at the Holmes family reunion. They were all having some 'fun in the sun' at Pineview Reservoir. Josh had been impressing everyone with his wakeboarding skills and took a couple bad wrecks. Later that day he was swimming off the shore at Middle Inlet with his brothers Justin and Colton. Josh was standing in the water almost to his waist when he did a swimmers dive to go in for a swim. Josh remembers hitting the sand. He was instantly paralyzed and was not able to come up. His brothers swimming close by noticed his back arched and his head under and wondered what he was doing, they swam over to him and helped him out to the shore, Josh coughed up some water, and told them he thought he was drowning. Justin touched Josh's leg and he could not feel them. 911 was called immediately, within 4-5 min. the paramedics were there and called life-flight. Josh was transported to the Hospital.

Hi Brother Pack, Brian and I (Ulrich Family) wanted you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. You are an amazing family. We will keep checking to see the progress.
Bro Pack! Jackie Dunn (now Malan) from OHS. What an amazing spirit and attitude your whole family has....what a positive example for all of us. Your thoughts and pictures are very touching. What an amazing support group you have in friends and family! I'm not very good with comforting words... I couldn't imagine what your family has been through, but I DO know that the Lord does and he will never leave you alone. I never understand why we're given the trials we are given but we are always blessed through them some how- they make us strong and make people come together and make us turn ourselves completely to the Lord, and through all that the sun seems to shine through the grey a bit and even if it's brief, it renews our spirit and we keep on going.
Brother Pack and Lisa, This is Kirsten Bastow- Kirstie, if you don't remember me, Josh will. I remember my first experience here in the "OV" before I was addopted, I was playing on the Huntsville Park swing set with Ashley Knighton, and this Blonde haired boy came up to me and asked if I needed help off the swings, yes that was Josh. I still and will remember that experience for a long time I hope. Tell him that he and Nate have been one of the greatest examples in my life. Thank you for everything you have done.
My mom is Karen Bastow by the way, she told me Lisa would know her.
