Thanksgiving- A Monumental Day
Thanksgiving truly was a great day of just that, giving thanks. We have been so blessed as a family. It was great to get out of the hospital today, the first time in 4 months!(a special exception for Thanksgiving) We went to dinner at McCormick & Schmicks, it was delightful. Some of us had steak, seafood, and some a traditional turkey dinner. We were joined by Nana and the Barfusses. We feel incredibly grateful this day to have such wonderful family & friends. We have given much thanks each day in our prayers for all of you and the faith and love you continually show to our family. We are stronger and better people because of all of our wonderful family & friends.
Calamari anyone?? It was fun for the girls to find out they had just eaten squid!
Oh my goodness Josh, your amazing! It's just crazy how the time has gone by. I'm just really greatful and am thanking Heavenly Father for knowing a person with as much faith as you!
I love looking at your page everyday. You are such a beautiful family, and such an inspiration to Les and I. I hope that we can have a family like yours one day! You guys are great! Keep up the hard work, and remember we are only an hour away if you ever need anything! ANYTHING! Talk to you soon!

Josh was spending the day with his family at the Holmes family reunion. They were all having some 'fun in the sun' at Pineview Reservoir. Josh had been impressing everyone with his wakeboarding skills and took a couple bad wrecks. Later that day he was swimming off the shore at Middle Inlet with his brothers Justin and Colton. Josh was standing in the water almost to his waist when he did a swimmers dive to go in for a swim. Josh remembers hitting the sand. He was instantly paralyzed and was not able to come up. His brothers swimming close by noticed his back arched and his head under and wondered what he was doing, they swam over to him and helped him out to the shore, Josh coughed up some water, and told them he thought he was drowning. Justin touched Josh's leg and he could not feel them. 911 was called immediately, within 4-5 min. the paramedics were there and called life-flight. Josh was transported to the Hospital.

D&C 122:7
And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.
